Steven D. Reinglass, M.D. is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist and Retina Specialist at Eye Care Center of Lake County, Ltd. in Gurnee. Illinois. Dr. Reinglass received his Medical Degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine followed by an Internship at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and a Residency in Ophthalmology at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. In addition, Dr. Reinglass completed a Fellowship in Retinal and Vitreous Surgery at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago.
Dr. Reinglass specializes in general ophthalmology, glaucoma, and advanced cataract surgery in addition to retinal evaluations. He is a retinal fellowship trained ophthalmologist specializing in diabetes and macular diseases. He is trained in Premium cataract surgery including the Alcon Panoptix Trifocal Implant, Alcon Extended Focus Vivity Implant and Alcon Toric Lens for Astigmatism. Effective May 6, 2024 the Alcon Clareon lenses (monofocal, toric, Vivity and PanOptix) will be available. Dr. Reinglass uses intraoperative aberrometry, Optiwave Refractive Analysis (Ora) for premium lenses along with patients who had Lasik or Radial Keratotomy (RK). He also performs post-cataract laser surgery (YAG) for secondary cataracts.
He is committed to helping patients with cataracts to become less dependent of eyeglasses (reading glasses, distant and bifocals) after cataract surgery through his use of correcting lens implants.
Dr. Reinglass is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Illinois State Medical Society and the Lake County Medical Society. He is a former member of the Vernon Hills Lions Club and American Diabetes Association where he has been an invited lecturer on various eye care topics.
Dr. Reinglass is affiliated with Advocate Condell Medical Center, -Libertyville, IL., Vista Medical Center East -Waukegan, IL.
Steve Wexler, OD received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1992. His Externship training involved treating the vision needs of multi-handicapped children and teens with visual-cognitive disabilities at Chicago’s Gilcrest-Marchman Rehabilitation Center and performing visual rehabilitation services at the Minneapolis Society for the Blind clinic in Minnesota.
Dr. Wexler maintained an eye care practice in Waukegan, Illinois over the last 17 years that focused heavily on ocular disease, complex contact lens fittings and children’s vision disorders and has cared for thousands of patients in the surrounding communities.
Dr. Wexler’s involvement in optometry also included serving as Clinical Examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and Examiner for the Department of Defense Medical Review Board. He is a long-time active member in the American Optometric Association.
He has established continual eye care missions to Duchity, Haiti and was involved with another regional Caribbean eye care project. He has lectured on eye care missions and acted as a consultant for start-up missions in developing countries.
His philosophy in life is to serve others and “do your best and do the right thing” which carries over into his own patient care.
Outside the office, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and children. He is an active adult leader in Boy Scouts and serves as Community Coordinator for Retrouvaille organization that serves to help strengthen marriages. Dr. Wexler also enjoys physical fitness, has participated in many Chicago Marathons over 20 years, enjoys playing guitar and percussion and tries to be a fixer of all things broken.
Dr. Wexler performs exams in Spanish and sees children as young as 5 years old.
